I read about the economic stimulus package on the Washington Post and understand that the size of Jumbo loans that Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac can guarantee and buy out was increased from $417,000 to $729,750. What I do not understand is that how is this supposed to help the average consumer?

Before this legislation comes into place, I know that Fannie Mae will not guarantee jumbo loans that exceed $417,000 but now they will. OK that's fine, but how does this tie in with the economic stimulus package?

By the way I must say, the $300 rebate check that will go into poor people's pockets really does no good. You can learn more about my theories @ www.2mortgageloancalculator.com Thanks!
